Black Friday 2009
Article by John Pope
Before I jump into this Black Friday sales shopping day I think it’s best to remind users what Black Friday really is: the traditional beginning of the winter holiday shopping season, the first day when huge discounts, coupons, rebates and low price products can be bought. It’s the day that saves you big time money if you plan and save money carefully throughout the whole year. This year’s Black Friday will happen on November 27 2009, the last Friday of November.Black Friday is not an official holiday per say, but shops and buyers surely don’t care about this. Increasing sales from year to year prove this thing. As you might expect many shops choose to extend the Black Friday 2009 period to more than just one day, to get things sold and clean the warehouse for December, the month that will get them the money usually earned throughout the rest of the year.People love Black Friday, as it can get them all the hardware they need in just one day and at a very convenient price. But, don’t expect to find the latest gadget at a massive discount that day: usually merchandisers choose to discount things that usually don’t sell very good, thus cleaning the shelves from normally unwanted products. But enough with discussions and let’s see what can we expect from Black Friday 2009 in gadgets sector:
Sony Playstation 3 Slim at a promotional price with game bundlesKindle Reader DX for a special priceLED LCD TV’s for around 1000$ Cheap Blu-Ray players with movie bundles, of courseDesktop + netbook combo offers. Actually this is what I would like to see on Black Friday 2009Cheap GPS units, with maps upgrade subscriptionsSoftware coupons, especially for Windows 7 Home Pack and other versionsA lot of accessories bundled with ‘normal’ productsThe list can go on and on, but frankly we will have to wait and see what will happen on Black Friday 2009. It will all depend on the financial crisis, but I expect merchandisers to try any trick to get customers in their shops and open their wallets. I just hope that no one will be killed like last year’s Black Friday, when shoppers forgot about common sense and run over each other trying to get the limited offers cheap stuff first. It was a sad day for humanity, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Black Friday should be banished, at contrary, we should look elsewhere, at people behavior in society. But enough said about Black Friday 2009. Just wait, plan, save money and get that offers while they’re hot.
